Liz Week! Part I

I'm finally getting around to posting about Liz's stay here since, you know, I've drafted two complaints this week that total somewhere around 300 pages. My brain hurts.

I LOVED having Liz visit; in fact, I think she should come back asap! Please? A gal after my own food-loving, Lab-loving, TV-show-obsessed heart.

Some highlights. For whatever reason, we watched a few minutes of Family Feud. One of the families was a group of young-ish men (teens to thirties, I'd say), each with some colored shirt and a matching, mono-chromatic tie, if I'm remembering correctly. One of the men seemed a little effeminate to me--and it wasn't just the peach-colored shirt and tie; his posture and diction were too good for a straighty--and I said something like, "Is he gay?"

He was then given the question, "Name one thing that people have a hard time walking away from."

He shouted out ever-so-enthusiastically, "BOYFRIEND!"

We just about died.

We went to La Sirena Grill in Laguna Beach one day (LOVE that place!), and as we were eating, we noticed a very intriguing seagull who apparently didn't like to get his little webbed feet on the filthy ground; he merely hopped from the top of one car to the next. It was awesome.

The new macaroni and cheese at BJ's is really good. Not Fleming's Chipotle Macaroni and Cheese good, but pretty dang good, especially for the $3.95 price tag. I'm a fan.

Liz apparently likes to make eye contact with other drivers to create fun and/or awkward situations. I pointed out that one guy in a car next to us was picking his nose, she looked over, and they made eye contact. AWKWARD! Or there was the couple waiting in their car in the parking structure at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, Liz looked over, said, "Oh, they looked at me," looked over again, apparently made eye contact again, and squealed (no joke) "He was looking again!" "Liz, these doors and windows aren't soundproof--they totally heard you squeal!" "Luckily, it was mostly unintelligible."

One of Liz's classic phrases, used multiple times during the trip, was, "As we learned in 2012 . . ."

More later . . .

So did you know that I am privileged to serve in the primary with miss Liz Seaver? I know! Craaaaazy? I made the connection a few days ago when I was blog stalking your blog and so today I said to her, "Hey! I know Laura too!" She said that she'd spent a few days with you and that you tried very hard to convince her to move to Laguna! lol Isn't she so sweet? Ummm and hello, I'm the SONG leader- how intimidating is it to stand up there and sing to the kids while I hear HER voice! Holy moly? Angelic-most-amazing-voice-EVER!!!!
Anyhoo, I look forward to the rest of this post. :-)

Can't wait for part two!

And for what it's worth, Chandra, I think you do a FABULOUS job in Primary--I'd never want to cover for you--I'm just not that entertaining!

And Laura, well, I learned many valuable lessons about the impending destruction of California from the movie 2012. You should definitely watch it to make your household plans for that coming annihilation.

Hi Chan! I didn't know you read Laura's blog. Aren't Liz & Laura hilarious? I also can't wait for more, especially if the funniest story from the trip is allowed to be written! But if not, I will continue to laugh about it secretly to myself.

My version of the story (at least the story I assume you refer to) is now available on my blog, Wendy. I think it's better told aloud than in written form, but it's still a pretty fabulous story. Not sure if Laura is going to write her perspective as well. I was actually turned toward the woman in question and couldn't see Laura at all during the conversation, so I can't capture what her expressions or feelings in the whole thing...

It was pretty hilarious, though.

Chan, that's AWESOME! I love Liz! Seriously, I sang a number with her at stake conference once and was like, Seriously? So talented!

And Liz, yes, yes you are that entertaining. =) Remember the 90+ folks we got in stake choir when you were the director? I've said it before and I'll say it again, it was because of the sheer awesomeness of your personality.

I might take a stab at the story, but I don't know if I could do any better than Liz's version. I think the only look you missed on my face was complete and utter shock. But hey, it's "Jane". I might have to start calling her that in my head now.
