Are you kidding me?!

Considering my utter lack of enjoyable dates recently (we're talking the kinds of dates where the guy talks about himself all night, folks), I don't dare get my hopes up for this one, but let me just share in a wee bit of excitement.

A guy--who actually asked me questions on the phone!--just asked me out for Friday night. The activity? Walking around a bookstore. BOO-yah. It's this nerd's dream date. The bonus points for the guy? He reads Michael Pollan ("In Defense of Food," "The Omnivore's Dilemma," and the guy interviewed throughout much of "Food, Inc.") and Malcom Gladwell ("The Tipping Point," "Blink," and "Outliers"). Be still my heart.

Um this is the coolest post ever. And I love that I'm not the only one who counts hanging out at bookstores as a date. Do you still have Borders? Ours is gone sadly so we have to find a new locale.

P.S. I'm totally calling you tomorrow to find out more about this mystery man.

Is it sad that I don't even know if we still have a Borders? I've been down in "that area" to Best Buy only a couple times in the last few years; I don't usually make it past Bed, Bath & Beyond for wedding presents, so I have no idea if the Borders is still there. We're going to the Barnes & Noble up by the Petsmart where you used to work. :)

Practically all I did with Wendy was drag her around Borders when we were dating. Can't do that anymore on account of the kid, but it was some good times. Except for all the coffee I had to drink to stay on my feet for so long.

I remember your Barnes and Noble/Border's dates! Well, not in that I was on them, but I remember hearing about them and/or being on the phone with Wendy when you on them (or right before/after). He phrased it very much in the way of, "I can't believe you read books like these! I'd really like to walk around a bookstore with you--are you free this week?" Almost like, "Hey, walking around a bookstore will tell me a lot about you" and that might just beat the 20 questions you'd otherwise play on a first date. Bring it.

So how'd it go??!

And I've had Outliers on my to-read list ever since finishing Breaking Point. That book was fascinating.

Kristyn, the date's tomorrow (Fri) night. Hopefully there'll be something from the date that'll make for a good blog post, so keep your eyes out.

I haven't read Outliers or Blink, but I want to! I think I've seen both at Costco, so maybe I should just spring for them next Costco trip. But isn't The Tipping Point awesome?
