John Stockton

I don't know if anyone will "get" this story other than Liz, but I'm hopeful. I'm a HUGE Jazz fan, and an even bigger John Stockton fan. He's my favorite player of all time, even with his short shorts.

When I flew up to attend General Conference back in October of 2002, I stayed with my aunt an uncle in Bountiful. Said uncle is the doctor for the Jazz, and sometimes he sees the players or personnel outside of the season for medical opinions, etc. It was maybe 8 pm one night while I was staying there that my aunt started running and screaming throughout the house, "LD?! LD?!?!? Do you want to meet John Stockton? GET IN THE CAR NOW!"

I hopped in the red GTO faster than I've hopped before, and my uncle and I drove down to Lakeview Hospital (his practice in Bountiful). Apparently, John Stockton's son had hurt his arm playing football that day and they wanted some x-rays. So they went into a room, and I stayed out in the dark waiting room. Ten minutes later, John Stockton came bounding out and came in my direction. I was totally starstruck. Nerdy, I know, but I got all nervous! He introduced himself and asked a few questions. Very friendly, very cool.

My favorite part? He was wearing a red polo and khakis. Well, shorts. Not knee-length shorts. Mid-thigh shorts. Classic.
