I flew up to San Francisco on Tuesday afternoon for a quick work trip. I flew in early enough so I could walk around and grab dinner before it got dark. The mall there was HUGE. I had a fantastic encounter with an extremely flamboyant gay man at the skin-care counter; he wouldn't tell me where the restrooms were until I promised to come back and let him do a quick demo. I told him I'd be back in less than five minutes, and he was floored when I came back and said, "Okay, show me what you've got!" We talked about natural products, had a hoot chatting, and he gave me a hug as I left. I fully supported the passing of Prop 8, but I do love the fun gays.
Here's a cool GAP building.
Here's an even cooler GAP building, GAP HQ:
Yep, we met with GAP. G has actually had several meetings with them at their HQ, so this wasn't an intro by any means, but it was pretty dang cool, for me, at least, to be meeting with them at their headquarters.
The conference we attended wasn't as great as we were hoping it would be, but I met with a gentleman at one company with which we're talking, so that was productive. Several folks commented on how mellow and subdued this show was, especially when compared to previous years; I still thought the "beer garden" hangout was a little crazy, but maybe that's just me. =)
I've been to S.F. several times before, but I really want to go back! Considering we have several really large clients who are based there, and several tech shows are there every year, I'm hopeful I'll be back soon. Hey, it was a good excuse to pull out my suit, strap on some new shoes (which turned out to be VERY painful--I've got three juicy blisters to prove it!), and learn from the best: my genius boss. Can't wait till I can go back!

I love SF--great museums, awesome architecture, good weather, interesting mix of people, good bread...
It's a wonderful place.
"Grace . . . . . Are you sleeping?" I love gay men!! They make me laugh and smile. I agree on Prop 8, but I still love my gay friends.
Ummmm, you had a meeting at GAP headquarters?! My friend, you are officially cooler than I thought! ;)
Mmmmm, San Francisco. Definitely one of my fav places. Such an amazing city!!!
Liz: I didn't try any of the bread this time . . . wait! At Town Hall I did, and it WAS good. It was kind of a quirky, quaint, New Orleans-style restaurant, and the bread was dang good.
Tracy: Ha ha! I can't watch that episode without thinking of you! Hilarious. Me, too! I think every girl needs a gay, and I love my gay. Who else is more perfect to tell me which jeans make my butt look good?
Christa: Hey, I'll take being cooler than you previously thought--that's fantastic! If you can think of any other companies that would make us infinitely cooler, just let me know. =)
Give you an excuse to pull out your suit? You think of wearing a suit as a positive? Wow. You are a businesswoman.
Gonzaga, Ha ha! I don't necessarily see wearing a suit as a positive, but considering I usually work in my PJs or in track pants and a T-shirt, it felt kind of nice actually feeling/looking professional for several hours on Wednesday. =) Plus, the suit was expensive. Gotta get use out of it! =)
Hmm...maybe I'll have to borrow your gay to tell me what jeans my butt looks good in, Laura.
I mostly just wear jeans that aren't stained or ripped and fit at least moderately.
I really need to step up my fashion game. I would never have looked right at a meeting at Gap. :)
Liz, I believe you've met my gay. He's fantastic; you know this. =) (we have a favorite moment regarding a classic FRIENDS line, too, that I'll have to tell you about some time)
You know, you'd be surprised how much you'd fit in at the GAP offices, at least with the guy with whom we met. G and I were in our suits, all dressed up and looking nice, and our GAP guy was in jeans, the plainest white T-shirt, and a baseball cap. It was awesome. He's super casual and super great to talk to. All sorts of good S.F. times.
Awesome picts, looks like a lot of fun!
BTW - your boss went off on the organ today during sacrament meeting - it was awesome!
Tara, oh really?! How cool! What'd he play? Was it the Count Your Many Blessings one, polka style? =)
I think I had a T-shirt when I was little that said "I left my heart in San Francisco." Ask Mom, I'm almost positive and I think she framed it.
