Assume

This is part of a conversation my best friend from home, Wendy, and I had yesterday.

Laura: Remember what Dr. Romano used to say on ER about assuming stuff?
Wendy: No. What did he say?
(Pause)
Laura: I can't SAY it. There's a cuss word. But it was . . . hilarious . . . that you, you know . . . can't assume, because you . . .
Wendy: (laughing at me) I totally remembered what Dr. Romano said. I just wanted to hear you cuss. (pause) I'm so mean.
